This policy explains how Clipscriber processes personal data. For most app and account operations, Clipscriber acts as a data controller. When enterprise customers upload content under contract, Clipscriber may act as a processor under separate terms.
2. Data We Collect

3. Legal Bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
- Contract: to provide requested services and account functionality.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, service improvement.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, and regulatory duties.
- Consent: where required for optional cookies or specific communications.
4. How We Use Data
- Provide transcription, translation, storage, export, and history functionality.
- Authenticate users and enforce subscription access controls.
- Validate language inputs and prevent abusive or malicious prompt-like entries in translation requests.
- Detect abuse, protect systems, and monitor uptime/performance.
- Respond to support requests and communicate service notices.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce legal rights.
5. AI Processing and Service Providers
Clipscriber uses automated systems and trusted subprocessors to deliver speech-to-text and translation features. Depending on availability and reliability controls, we may route processing through multiple provider pathways.
- Speech and translation outputs are generated by machine systems and can contain errors.
- Inputs may be transmitted to processors solely to provide requested features.
- Provider selection and failover may occur to maintain service continuity.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share data with:
- Infrastructure and cloud service providers required to operate the service.
- AI/ML processing providers required for transcription and translation tasks.
- Payment providers for subscription billing and fraud checks.
- Analytics and logging vendors in aggregated or limited form.
- Law enforcement or authorities where legally required.
- Professional advisers (auditors, counsel) under confidentiality obligations.
7. International Transfers
Data may be processed in jurisdictions outside your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent transfer mechanisms.
8. Retention
- Account records: retained while account is active and as required by law after closure.
- Transcription content: retained until user deletion, account deletion, or contractual expiry.
- Translated content and export-preference records: retained while needed for feature continuity, then deleted or anonymized.
- Security logs: retained for a limited period necessary for abuse and incident response.
- Billing/legal records: retained according to statutory obligations.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational controls designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we continuously evaluate and improve controls.
10. Your Rights
Depending on jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing.

11. Children
Clipscriber is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without legal authorization.
